The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery is committed to excellence in patient care, academic training, research, and innovation. The department serves as a centre for advanced maxillofacial surgical education and comprehensive clinical care, with a strong focus on developing skilled, competent, and ethically driven oral and maxillofacial surgeons.

Our faculty comprises highly experienced clinicians and academicians dedicated to providing extensive hands-on surgical training and mentorship. Emphasis is placed on evidence-based practice, multidisciplinary collaboration, and the integration of contemporary surgical techniques to ensure comprehensive learning and optimal patient outcomes.

The department offers training and clinical exposure across a broad spectrum of subspecialties including oral and maxillofacial pathology, dentoalveolar surgery, implantology, maxillofacial trauma, orthognathic surgery, temporomandibular joint surgery, reconstructive surgery, cleft and craniofacial surgery, oncologic surgery, and cosmetic facial procedures.

• Areas of expertise include oral and maxillofacial pathology, Dentoalveolar surgery ,Pre prosthetic surgery, Implantology and Maxillofacial trauma, Minor oral surgery
• Areas of competence involve orthognathic surgery tempero mandibular joint surgery and local reconstructive surgery
• Area of familiarity are Cleft Lip and Cleft Palate surgery , reconstructive surgery ,  oncologic surgery , craniofacial surgery and cosmetic surgery.

• Separate Undergraduate and Postgraduate clinical training units with comprehensive patient exposure and advanced academic facilities
• Fully equipped Minor Operation Theatres for outpatient surgical procedures
• Advanced Modular Operation Theatres with modern surgical facilities
• A dedicated state-of-the-art Implantology Unit equipped with contemporary implant systems and technologies

Undergraduate Training

The oral surgical curriculum for undergraduates is split into two parts with the trainees being exposed to basics of local anaesthesia and management of medical emergencies at the chair side in the III year and the core maxillofacial surgery in the final year of Under graduation.

Postgraduate Training

Involves the Diagnosis and treatment of

• Dental infections, Benign and Malignant pathology, Cysts, tumors etc.
• Congenital craniofacial malformations such as cleft lip & palate and cranial vault malformations such as craniosynostosis.
• Soft & hard tissue trauma of oral & Maxillofacial region,
• Facial deformity, TMJ Disorders, Chronic facial pain disorders etc
• Treatment of Salivary gland disorders
• Orthognathic Surgeries
• Resection and Reconstruction
• Dental Implants.
• Management of medical emergencies on dental chair
• Bridges the gap between Dentistry and Medicine

Intensive Surgical Training Program with Skin to skin Hands on Guidance

The trainees are exposed to complete spectrum of maxillofacial surgeries during their tenure and are provided with an opportunity to pursue advanced training.

• Each trainee undergoes hands-on training on all minor and major surgeries under direct supervision.
