Overview And Scope

  • The Department of Prosthodontics and Crown & Bridge equips undergraduate and postgraduate students to meet the goal of competent management of patients with prosthodontic needs, arrive at a diagnosis, and plan the sequence of treatment. It provides good clinical care for patients requiring comprehensive and advanced phases of prosthodontic treatment like occlusal rehabilitation, full-mouth, rehabilitation, and implant-supported prosthesis, and extraoral/intraoral maxillofacial prosthesis.
  • Prosthodontics is a branch of dentistry that deals with designing, manufacturing, and fitting artificial replacements for teeth and other parts of the mouth. It is a branch of dentistry that is mainly concerned with the cosmetic restoration of lost orofacial structures (aesthetic restoration). Maxillofacial prosthodontics is a subspecialty of prosthodontics that deals with the prosthesis of the oral and maxillofacial region. Aesthetic restoration of lost orofacial structures is done through removable and fixed prostheses.
  • Removable prostheses include removable dentures (artificial teeth) - both complete and partial sets. while fixed prostheses include bridges, crowns, and implant-supported dentures. Rigorous training and experience provide prosthodontists with a special understanding of the dynamics of the smile, the preservation of a healthy mouth, and the creation of tooth replacements.
  • The Department is the first in Asia to have CAD/CAM technology, an advanced implant clinic supporting all systems, and injection molding processing systems to produce high-quality dentures and titanium casting machines.

Prosthodontics treatment provided includes the fabrication of:
