Objectives:
Root Canal Appreciation Day is observed to increase awareness about the importance of endodontic treatment and to dispel common myths surrounding root canal therapy. Root Canal Appreciation Day (also called National Root Canal Appreciation Day) is observed every year on the second Wednesday of May. This year’s theme for the day is “Save the Tooth: RCT over extraction”. The Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics, Rama Dental College, Kanpur celebrated Root Canal Appreciation day Day on 13th May 2026, by organizing various Competitions: Reel making, Poster making and Dental Quiz. The topic for the competition was Endodontic treatment. The main aim of the celebration of this day is to promote awareness about the specialty of Conservative dentistry and Endodontics and to highlight its role in recognizing the expertise of dental professionals in diagnosing and treating diseases of the dental pulp and periapical tissues and also in educating the public about the importance of preserving natural teeth through root canal treatment.

Outcomes:
Several competitions were organized by Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics on the theme “SAVE THE TOOTH: RCT OVER EXTRACTION” which helped to educate the participants about the importance of preserving natural teeth through root canal treatment.

A total of 33 Undergraduate students participated in three competitions i.e. reel making, poster making and quiz. The participants during these competitions not only showed their expertise, knowledge and creativity, but also showed their interest in Endodontic learning. At the end of the program, the participants of all the three competitions were judged based on the level of understanding the theme and expression of their art. The winners were awarded by our esteemed Principal and Vice chancellor, Rama Dental College.
