National Public Health Dentistry Day Marked by Awareness Programs and Student Competitions at Rama Dental College

Objectives:
National Public Health Dentistry Day is celebrated every year on 19th June. The theme for this year was “Strengthening Oral Health through One Health Principles.” The day aims to recognize the valuable contributions of Public Health Dentists in promoting community oral health and preventing oral diseases through awareness and education.

The Department of Public Health Dentistry at Rama University actively supported this initiative by organizing various events under the guidance of Principal Dr. Asheesh K. Sawhny and Head of Department Dr. Nidhi Shukla.

Outcomes:
National Public Health Dentistry Day was successfully celebrated at Rama Dental College, Hospital and Research Centre, Rama University, Kanpur, with several engaging activities promoting both oral and overall health awareness.

A Rangoli Competition was organized for students, in which six teams participated. The participants created innovative rangoli designs based on the theme “Strengthening Oral Health through One Health Principles,” effectively reflecting the concept through their creativity.

Undergraduate students also participated virtually in a Health Talk Competition hosted by Yenepoya Dental College. Internship student Dr. Zainab Ahmed Ansari secured the second prize in the competition.

Additionally, postgraduate students took part in a Pedagogy Competition hosted by Yenepoya Dental College. Dr. Ariba Tajammul, a second-year postgraduate student, achieved first prize in the competition.
